লকডাউন বিরোধী গণ উদ্যোগ-এর পক্ষ থেকে স্কুল কলেজ খোলা এবং সমস্ত গণ পরিবহনের স্বাভাবিক চলাচলের দাবিতে, লকডাউনের বিধিনিষেধের নামে রাষ্ট্রীয় সন্ত্রাসের বিরুদ্ধে এবং স্বাস্থ্য পরিকাঠামো বাড়াতে মৌলালিতে আজকের(11/1/22) কর্মসূচি থেকে ৩০ জন আন্দোলনকারীকে আটক করেছে কলকাতা পুলিশ। একটি পুলিশ ভ্যান এন্টালি থানায়, আরেকটি তালতলা থানায় নিয়ে গেছিল, সাথীদের। পরে সবাইকে আইপিসি১৮৮, ডিএম আক্ট ৫১বি ধারায় মামলা দিয়ে মুক্তি দেওয়া হয়েছে।
এই মুহূর্তে সারা দেশের ৫ টি রাজ্যে নির্বাচন চলছে। এ রাজ্যে ৪ জায়গায় পৌরসভার নির্বাচনের প্রস্তুতি জোর কদমে চলছে। আর সাধারণ মানুষের ওপর চাপিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে 'বিধিনিষেধ'!
গণ আন্দোলন কর্মীদের উপর রাজ্য সরকারের এই লাগাতার আক্রমনের বিরুদ্ধে এবং অবিলম্বে স্কুল কলেজ সহ সমস্ত শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান খোলার দাবিতে, শিক্ষার অধিকার থেকে কাউকে বঞ্চিত না করার দাবিতে, বিধিনিষেধের নামে গ্রামাঞ্চলের প্রান্তিক মানুষদের উপর কোনোরকম জুলুমবাজি, ধরপাকড়, ভয় না দেখানোর দাবিতে আজকের এই কর্মসূচি আটকে দিলে ও পরবর্তীতে আরও কর্মসূচি সংগঠিত হবে।

Putting to rest, the questions of leading economists about the future of the neoliberal form of global capital, one of the theoreticians of this global capital has stated bluntly that the ‘inevitable’ future of the people, the people dependant upon their labour is bleak to say the least. He went on to say blatantly, on our face that this is the way forward for the survival and prosperity of capital! That the capitalists are using the current pandemic to reset the economy into what he calls the fourth industrial revolution. Is the world really facing the horror story that he has knit?
GRAPH is the culmination of a consistent effort spanning over several months to look into the social, economic, medical and human rights perspective of the paradigm that emerged in the wake of COVID 19. We stand for a rational and humane approach to public health. We oppose a skewed approach involving the management of a single disease at the cost and perils of the entire public health system.
We are calling upon your organization to get united on a common minimum agenda and raise our voice against this irrational, unscientific and undemocratic measures in the form of mass awareness campaigns.
All beginnings have a backdrop, a history. Searching the history of this pandemic led us back, to a decade and more, unfolding event after event. Are all these events, throughout the last decade or so, unrelated to each other? Can a chain of co-incidents of such a scale be possible in reality?
Primum non nocere – first do no harm, is an integral part of the physicians’ oath, transcending time and space. Physicians who advocate the current candidate COVID vaccines are acting in contravention of this principle. This act is not only unethical but will also stand out as an unpardonable misadventure.
The World Economic Forum has presented us with tactics to tackle vaccine hesitancy. The tactics are such gems of ideas that the WEF has absolved itself of any responsibility for the same. Do these tactics inspire confidence among the people or do they reek of state coercion?
The authorities should adopt a sound public health policy based on scientific rationale and pragmatism. It needs to be emphasized that the covid vaccines have not yet passed through the phase 3 trial which is to be completed in 2023. The efficacy data is debatable and less than inspiring confidence of the public and the scientific community. The safety trial data in terms of short and long term side effects is conspicuous by its absence in public domain.
From the emergence of the novel corona virus to the declaration of the pandemic to the lockdowns to compulsory masking and social distancing to vaccines and booster doses – everything have shown the characteristics of an awe inspiring speed. Speed, however, blurs vision; and in this haze, we have to focus on what is in store for us ahead. The agenda 2030, the cyber pandemic and cyber lockdown looms large on our head.
