The authorities should adopt a sound public health policy based on scientific rationale and pragmatism. It needs to be emphasized that the covid vaccines have not yet passed through the phase 3 trial which is to be completed in 2023. The efficacy data is debatable and less than inspiring confidence of the public and the scientific community. The safety trial data in terms of short and long term side effects is conspicuous by its absence in public domain.
